Using Robotics in Primary Education

Course Outline

This course aims to help teachers understand the potential of using Robotics in education in order to engage their young students more. General information and pedagogical methods will be coupled with hands on practical sessions using “Dash and Dot” – a set of robots that are built with young children in mind but that have all the required sensors and programmable capabilites of more complex robots. Best practices and case studies will be given and online educational resources on how to use robotics in class for a variety of subjects.

Target Audience:

Primary school teachers or other teaching assistants that deal with children between the ages of 5 and 11. School administration officials, ICT teachers, pedagogical researchers, parents will also take back a lot of interesting materials from this course


Preparation

Participants for this course must be familiar with basic computer skills. Knowledge of programming is an asset but not a requirement since everyone can use these robots. Good knowledge of English is a must.
